Election results: VoA in action

Greetings OCVA members and friends,

A review of last Tuesday's election results shows voting on annexations in action in OCVA member cities.

First off is North Plains, where a proposed 144-acre annexation was defeated for a second time. We gave you the run-down on this one in our newsletter. As in May, the margin was slim: 365 against, 348 in favor. Here are two relevant articles:

North Plains again rejects expansion (The Oregonian)

No vote on annexation throws North Plains growth into limbo (The Oregonian)

And in Philomath, citizens rejected two annexations by 4:1 and 3:1 margins. The larger proposal would have added 700 homes, increasing Philomath's population by 50% in 10 to 20 years:

Voters deny Lowther, Lahey annexations (The Gazette-Times)

Not all annexations are rejected, as we've said many times. Here are two in McMinnville that passed with wide support-- 3:1 in the case of the museum proposal:

Annexation paves way for space museum (The News-Register)

As always, those with "the vote" have a say... those without, don't!
