Minnis Pulls 2484

Well - no surprises here. See Rep. Garrard's message below. I knew as soon as I heard that Speaker Minnis was involved we were in trouble. Based on what happened to HB 3211 in the last session, we can only assume 2484 is getting the same treatment.

The annexation issue is not going to go away in this state - it will only get worse as city after city goes after more territory. I am very angry about this - as all of you should be, but I'm not the least bit surprised. So much for "restoring trust" in state government!

We will continue to track the various Senate bills in the hope that something can be put together in that chamber. In the mean time:

House Speaker Karen Minnis
900 Court St. NE, Room 269
Salem, OR 97301

I also intend to write a letter to the Governor. He's made a big point about the need to "restore trust."

I was just informed by Speaker Minnis to sit on the bill for now, so at this point we will not be having a work session for HB 2484 Monday. I’ll inform you as soon as it is rescheduled.

Representative Garrard -

We understand there's a work session scheduled for HB 2484 this Monday (3/7). We know testimony is not taken at these (you folks are probably foundered of testimony on this bill by now) but would we be permitted to sit in on the deliberation? If so, what time is the session and where?

Thanks,

Jerry Ritter
