HB 2484

We just heard from Rep. Greenlick that - once again - no action has been taken on HB 2484. So nothing happened in Medford other than the bill got put back on the shelf, now for the 4th time.

It now appears the opposition is trying to drag out the process for long enough to kill any chances of achieving anything. So far, annexation reform has been mired in seemingly endless debate in Salem. And time is getting short.

Everyone knows what the problems are. It doesn't require endless debate to come up with solutions. Some, who happen to be politically powerful, simply don't want to address the issue. These are largely public entities using your (public) money to help make sure the status quo is maintained. But failure to address these problems that are affecting so many citizens is not in keeping with the Legislature's "prime directive" of representing "The People of The State of Oregon."

No further news on SB 887. Rep. Greenlick commented that it's getting shoved back and forth from one committee to another....so the same old story here, apparently.

We'll provide additional updates as we learn more.

Secretary, OCVA
