SB 887B Passes House

There was a House floor vote on SB 887B today (Friday)and we got a report from Rep. Nolan's office that it passed although she voted no. I don't have the vote count.

The time was clearly too short for us to get the job done in that chamber. OUR INTERACTION WITH THE HOUSE IS DONE on this bill. SB 887B now goes back to the Senate for concurrence.

So the next action step is to contact your SENATOR(s) ASAP with the same message: SB 887B has serious flaws. It removes city voters from the ORS 195 annexation process after the Senate just voted 23 - 3 to RETAIN city voters' right to participate in these annexations with HB 2484. By revoking city voters' rights, it also nullifies our "voter annexation" city charter amendments which will make a lot MORE people angry! HB 2484 (double majority) was the right way to reform ORS-195: Please do NOT enact SB 887B without keeping city voters in the ORS-195 process as the Senate rightly did when it passed HB 2484!

....or write your own message. You know what the situation is. OCVA will be making official contact with the Senate on this ASAP.

Senator contact information is on the Legislature's website: www.leg.state.or.us and click on "Senate."
